Haven't posted in ages. I finally finally finally got my thesis handed in :) Yay and woot! Pretty much what I've been doing for the past however many weeks.

Hehe! I had an awesome time tonight :)

I went to Melinda's (a friend of mine's) 21st and it was a fancy dress party- 60s, 70s and 80s. My costume was late 60s, early 70s. I wore a tie-dyed dress (blue, purple and pink) and I afro'd my hair and put it up with a scarf. I had on cork sandals, heaps of jewelery (wooden and fiber bangles, rings galore and anklets) and I wore blue eyeshadow and an awful bronze/apricot lipstick. It was great! some of the costumes there were awesome- Sarah made her own costume, and it was an all-in-one bell bottoms-and-top outfit, and Anh went punk-rock, which looked just perfect on her. I went there with Emily; John couldn't go, cause he has work this morning- was supposed to start at 2-2:30, but may not have gotten there till 3. Emily decided she wasn't going to not let me go, so she picked me up and dropped me off afterwards (I have awesome friends!). Anyway, a group of us (including Melinda, which was great) danced all night (my feet are killing me!), and we had such a blast!

So now I'm home, and so is Joseph- he got back from Newcastle this evening. I think he had a great time, but I'm not sure he's all too happy to be home- bet he already misses everyone. I know I did, and I was only at Newcastle airport and had just said goodbye to everyone! Hopefully he'll be happier once he's back at school :)

Still nice to have him home though. And he's not going to work tomorrow, so he was still up when I got home, which is cool cause I didn't think I'd see him till Monday! So yeah.

Okies, well I should be off. I should be going to bed and getting some sleep, cause I have to finish my lab report (eeek!) tomorrow morning before work, but even though I'm tired I don't feel like going to bed. Hmmm....... what a conundrum......

I miss John (even if I did only just speak to him, and I saw him on Thursday, which really was a while ago) and I won't get to see him till Tuesday!!! Damn. Yay for the phone :)

Spence and Judith: hope you enjoyed having Joseph over :)

I'm in my computer lab, and waiting for a lecturer, so I thought I'd make a post while I'm waiting.

Im in a bit of shock. I just found out that the brother of my best friend was just diagnosed with lymphoma. I've known him for nearly 10 years.He's only in year 11. he hasn't been well for a while, and had had a lot of tests and stuff- he'd lost a lot of weight. the last time i saw him was the start of march, and I hadn't seen him since the year before, and it was such a shock! it was like he'd had a huge growth spurt, but hadn't added the extra weight you need for it. So now they know whats wrong with him. I think he's been admitted into Peter Mac and he'll start chemo till he's better. that all I know so far. I'm gonna talk to my friend in a couple of hours, when shes on her lunch break.

I'm not sure what to do. Just offer comfort and support and a shoulder to lean on i spose.

Not much happened today. I had Med Chem all day (but thats cool cause I like med chem, and at the moment I have Andrew for labs and lectures, so its good). I got my prac handed in (was up for a while finishing it, but at least its done) but I found out that only two of us handed it in today! Its cause ppl has problems with some aspects (either the qns, or the NMR interpretation, or calculating yield) but I'd rather have it finished and handed in then sitting around still to do.

I miss Spence and Judith, but at least I know that Phus will be able to give them big hugs from me :)
And I've decided I like live journals, and the ability to keep up with what ppl are doing :)

I am so frustrated today!
In my analytical chemistry lab, Anh and i are doing a GC prac (gas chromatography) in which we are supposed to be analysing toothpaste for menthol content. Last week we prepared out standards and samples, and this week was SUPPOSED to be the simple week of simply injecting the samples into the GC and running them, and then just making sure we had valid results that we could work with. Well, buggar that, we didn't even get a set of valid results for our STANDARDS, let alone even get to run our SAMPLES!!!
First, we flatlined and got no peaks, cause we were stupid and forgot to light the flame of the flame ionisation detector. then, every set of results either didn't work or the peaks weren't enough to get a printout, or whatever. not even rohani (out demonstrator) or minh (the lab technician) could figure out exactly what the hell was wrong, or could get good results! So that is yet another week that an experiment has not worked properly in Anal chem :(
And I have a medical chemistry lab report to finish tonight, and it's due in tomorrow morning.
oh well, things could be worse. At least john is here (although he has to work tomorrow so he's not staying over).

How odd is this. I have no idea what to write. I don't know whether to write everyday stuff, or only write events and thoughts of significance. Hmmm...
Although, i suppose rarely do i have thoughts that are substantially significant, so i guess that should make it easier.
Oh well. Not much has been happening. Uni. Work. I burnt two of my fingers today *whine* and they REALLY HURT!!! Well, my thumb especially. Stupid stove top thats still hot even after the stove is turned off. Now I have a stripe of blister on my left thumb, and must keep it continually pressed against something cold. And I'm typing with one hand. Oh well, it'll heal. Really, thats probably enough whinging, eh?
So thats about it. I have a lab report to do (which I am quite clearly putting off- procrastination is such a wonderful thing) and I have to work tomorrow, and I haven't seen john since Thursday :( (well, technically Fri morning- but that was at 3am when he left for work). But if he's got Mon off, I'll get to see him Tomorrow night after work! Yay!!! :D
